Artists and craftsmen
Spring City and some other nearby towns have more than their share of artists. Joe Bennion has his Horseshoe Mountain Pottery shop on Spring City's Main Street, and his wife, painter Lee Bennion, has her studio next to their house. On Heritage Day, Joe also invites other craftsmen to set up booths near the pottery shop - so you might see handmade soaps, beautiful woodworking, and weavings there. On Main Street in Ephraim, just south of the only stoplight in the county, you can visit the Art Center, which hosts work by various local artists.
Outdoor recreation
Spring City is close to national forest and BLM lands. Nearby Canal Canyon is a roadless area, with trails for hiking, horseback riding and mountain biking in the summer, snowshoeing in the winter. If you don't have your own horse, you can stay at Windwalker guest ranch and ride theirs.
Across the valley Maple Canyon, an internationally known rock-climbing destination, also has hiking trails. In the summer, there are two golf courses which are seldom crowded - a seven hole (soon to be nine hole) course at Skyline Mountain Resort (east and north from Mt. Pleasant) and an 18 hole course at Palisades State Park (south of Manti). In the winter, you can find groomed or ungroomed trails for cross country skiing, and up Fairview Canyon, access to snowboarding and snowmobiling.
Snow College
In Ephraim, you can visit Snow College, an excellent small state junior college, which often sponsors concerts, plays and art exhibits, as well as college sports events.
